CBC System versus 8-4-4 System of Education

  What is the CBC Education System in Kenya ? CBC stands for Competence-Based- Curriculum System and in Kenya it has replaced the old 8-4-4 system of Education. CBC system of education was introduced in 2017 to replace the former 8-4-4 education system which had been running since 1984. CBC education system  encompasses a more holistic approach to  development of a child`s education emphasising on competency and  practical skills for use later in life.Rather than training them to pass national examinations as had been the case with the previous system. Discipline In Schools Is Possible Without Corporal Punishment

  Instilling Discipline In Children Whithout Caning In my previous post I talked about the possibility of bringing back corporal punishment in schools to discipline children. Bring Back Caning In Schools ? Corporal punishment may have worked well 40-60 years ago but we are now in the mass information age and what worked then cannot necessarily work now. On 20th November 1989 in New York City The Convention On The Rights Of The Child was adopted by the UN General Assembly.Its aim was to ensure children were protected from hard and exploitation especially in times of war. Should We Bring Back Corporal Punishment In Schools? Currently Corporal Punishment Has Banned Almost Universally In all Schools.The Gen Zee Who Brought About Demand For Changes in Kenya , Bangladesh Were Brought Up Whithout Corporal Punishment And So Are The Generations Following Them.They are in fact brought up thinking they have the same rights as their adult teachers Gen Zee People like myself born in the 1970`s and Early 80`s  experienced some form or the other of corporal punishment.Those born in the the 50`s and 60`s experienced it even more.Corporal punishment instilled a sense of discipline , through fear which was good.The bolder ones of course just didn`t care and went ahead with their Huckleberry Finn activities knowing very well the odd 3 or 4 canings would not harm them at all.But the Huckleberry Finns were fewer and most children remained obedient.
